HHomeworkStack

About

A parent reading the fine print, then writing it down.

HomeworkStack is for parents of kindergarten through 8th grade who are staring at another “AI tutor” ad. Parents of K–8 kids, written from the point of view of an Orange County, California parent of a 3rd grader and a 5th grader.

The question is not which app has the cutest mascot. It is which tools are safe enough for a child, which ones make the child think, and which ones are worth paying for.

What gets written down

Each note comes from a public page: the company’s site, a help center, a privacy policy, or an app-store listing. The review date is 2026-10-15. If a dollar amount or a COPPA claim was not on those pages, the field stays blank or is marked unverified. A third-party blog is not used as the price.

Teaches versus gives answers

“Teaches” means the product is built as lessons, practice, or a tutor that is supposed to make the child do the work. “Gives answers” means the main job is to solve the problem. “Mixed” means a child can use it either way, or the company’s own pages describe both. A company saying “we don’t give the answer” is reported as their claim.

Money

The directory is free for parents. Companies can pay for a labeled Sponsored card. That payment does not edit the safety note, the price, or the teaches-versus-answers line. Until someone has paid, the directory shows a sponsor link instead of a featured tool.
