IXL
Adaptive skills practice for pre-K through 12th grade. Not a chatbot.
IXL is paid practice in math, language arts, science, social studies, and Spanish. A diagnostic suggests what to work on next. It is built for repetition and feedback, not for photographing a problem.
Best for
A child who will sit for short skills practice, and a parent who wants grade-level (or off-grade) work in more than one subject.

Pricing
Partly verified
IXL’s U.S. family pricing page lists $9.95 a month for one subject (math or language arts), $15.95 a month for math plus language arts, and $19.95 a month for the core subjects (math, language arts, science, and social studies). There is a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. Annual prices were not on that page.
Teaches, or gives the answer?
Kids answer questions, get feedback, and can watch video lessons. IXL is practice. It is not an answer engine for a photocopied worksheet.
Kid safety and privacy
Verified from public pages
IXL’s privacy index says children under 13 cannot create an account, and that child profiles on a parent account are covered by a children’s privacy policy. Collection of a child’s information is with a parent’s consent and direction.
What we could not verify
- Only monthly U.S. prices were on the family pricing page we read. Do not assume an annual discount.
- Spanish and extra-child prices were not on that page.
- Social studies and Spanish exist. This directory’s subject list tags the core academic areas parents filter on: math, reading, writing, and science.
