Photomath
Google’s camera math solver, with step-by-step work.
Photomath scans a math problem, from arithmetic through calculus, and shows a solution with steps. Basic explanations are free. Photomath Plus adds animated tutorials and textbook solutions.

Pricing
Partly verified
Google’s Photomath Plus help page says the core solver is free and Plus is an optional subscription billed monthly, every 6 months, or yearly through Google Play or the App Store. Yearly and 6-month plans are discounted versus paying monthly. The help page does not list dollar amounts.
Teaches, or gives the answer?
Photomath’s own store text says it breaks a problem into steps so a learner sees the why. The app still produces the solution. For a homework night, that is an answer engine with explanations.
Kid safety and privacy
Not verified
Photomath is published by Google. The privacy policy we read says a registered account can include an email, a screen name, and an age if the person is old enough to register. It does not contain a clear COPPA children’s section in the text we reviewed. The app is not presented as a little-kid product.
What we could not verify
- Current Plus prices in dollars were not on the official help page. A February 2024 news story reported $9.99 a month or $69.99 a year. That figure is not used as the current price.
- Word problems and elementary arithmetic are supported, which is why K–2 is listed. It is still a solver, so it is a rough fit for early grades if the goal is learning.
